Sorry for the delay in posting but we have had a busy weekend! So far Jake has been doing really well after his first dose of chemo. He hasn’t had any side effects that we have noticed. He has had a healthy appetite and has not had any vomiting or diarrhea. THANK GOODNESS! My husband, sister, her dog Clyde, Jake and I, took a road trip this past weekend, down to Fredericksburg, TX, where my parents live. Jake handled the car ride really well. He laid on his unaffected side with a pillow behind him to help prop him up against the car door. I sat in the back with him to make sure he was comfortable and didn’t try to get up and risk falling. He finally figured out how to turn his body a little, to where he could put his front leg down and see out between the two front seats. He LOVES seeing out the window so that made him happy. He had been down to my parents several times so we knew he would adapt quickly, which he did. They have mostly carpet so that worked to his advantage. Overall, he did really well. He was happy to visit his GiGI and GDaddy and they were glad to see him since it was the first time since becoming a tripawd. They were very proud of him, just like we are. Here are a couple of pictures from this weekend.
We also went back today for follow up labs. He has lost more weight, down to 80lbs from 87 which is the lightest he has weighed since his diagnosis. I think a lot of it is from him not eating a lot after surgery and the fact that he is using so much more energy to get around that he is burning fat. I guess this is a healthy weight for him, at least he gets around a lot easier being a little lighter. I have been using spreadsheets to monitor his vital signs, looking for any sign of infection so that we can stay on top of things. He finished his round of antibiotics last night and is scheduled for his next dose on December 2nd. All in all, things are going well. He is getting back to wanting to play little by little which is nice. He seems happy which is all that matters to us! Oh and Jake got a special package in the mail….his very own tripawds bandana. He is wearing it proudly, thanks Rene and Jerry!!!

So glad he’s dong well! He really, realy looks good and happy in the photos. That’s what it’s all about!
All your points avout the weight loss make sense to me. He’s eating, drinking and is joyful. As long as the vet says everythingis checking out okay, I wouldn’t be too concerned. The leg weighed at least three or four pounds maybe?
YAAAAAAAY for Jake sailing through chemo! Keep n keeping on Jake! Enjoy beng the center of the Universe…..you deserve it!!
Extra treats and extra hugs for Jake toight!!
